Today’s workplace landscape is unlike anything we’ve encountered before. As a result of the monumental shifts the pandemic has ushered in, companies are combatting both talent retention challenges and an ever-growing IT skills gap. It has become increasingly apparent that education and training must evolve with the landscape.
In the SAP Learning organization, we are constantly working to rethink how learning can help our customers, partners, and employees keep up.
Here are three key ways we are reimagining learning so that everyone in our ecosystem has the skills they need to succeed:
-
Lowering the Barriers to Access Education
Technology has drastically improved learning access for underrepresented communities, as well as students just starting out their careers. Whether it’s a video call, an e-learning module, or a simulated exercise, knowledge can now be shared globally at almost no cost.
We are passionate about creating opportunities by making learning engaging and accessible to all. By eliminating the cost of learning and reducing the need for in-person activities, SAP has expanded its global programs to reach learners who may face barriers.
SAP Learning has reached more than 150,000 active learners since its launch, growing by around 2,000 participants daily. Programs like People to Work by SAP have helped over 80% of participants secure new jobs after completing their training.
-
Taking a Skills-Based Approach to Career Development
As SAP expands its learning ecosystem, it recognizes that learners have different goals—some want to improve in their current roles, while others aim to start or transition careers.
A skills-based approach allows learners to focus on specific areas of development, saving time and creating a personalized experience. Research shows that e-learning technologies can boost employee engagement by up to 20%.
Certifications help learners validate their skills, enhancing their employability. Internally, SAP uses this approach to identify workforce capabilities and make strategic investments in employee development.
This approach earned SAP recognition as a Silver Award winner in the Chief Learning Officer 2022 Learning Elite awards.
-
Meeting Learners Where They Are
Every individual learns differently, and digital tools enable more flexible and personalized learning experiences. SAP is moving beyond traditional classrooms to offer learning anytime, anywhere.
Modern learners increasingly prefer digital formats. Studies show that 82% of students want at least some online learning, with 41% preferring fully online courses.
While in-person training remains important, digital learning plays a crucial role in closing the skills gap and expanding the SAP talent ecosystem.
This commitment has led to SAP being recognized as a leader in multiple IDC MarketScape reports for IT Training Services across Europe, the U.S., and Asia-Pacific regions.
Our Commitment to Continuous Learning
While SAP is proud of the impact its learning programs have made, continuous improvement remains a core principle. The organization actively seeks feedback to enhance its offerings and better support learners on their journey.
Through continuous learning, SAP aims to empower individuals and organizations to stay competitive in an ever-evolving digital world.
